Your Premera Plan

Get the most from your health plan

Sometimes it seems like getting healthcare is a giant puzzle. The good news is that you already have the keys to solve it. Here’s how to unlock your health plan.

Key #1: Your ID card

Show this card every time you get medical care or fill a prescription. It tells your doctor’s office or pharmacist what your benefits cover and how to apply all the discounts Premera has negotiated with them.

Your card shows:

  • Your ID number and provider network
  • Your copay and other cost share amounts
  • Important phone numbers, including Customer Service and the 24-Hour NurseLine

Key #2: Find a Doctor

Log in at premera.com and use the Find a Doctor tool to find in-network healthcare providers. Be sure to select the provider network name shown on your member ID card. You can also find specific information about each provider, compare providers, and even get your personal cost and plan information.

For tips on how to choose the right in-network doctor for you, see How to Find the Right Doctor for You.

Key #3: Ask your providers

Ask the right questions to get the best care and save money. Ask about:

  • Pre-approval, which your doctor might need to get from Premera before your service
  • Facility fees separate from your care, which might be billed to you
  • Generic medications, which can save you money at the pharmacy

Key #4: Register with premera.com

When you create an online account, you can manage your claims, track spending toward your deductible, and look up detailed information about what your health plan covers. There are wellness tools and resources and lots more, too.

Key #5: Premera Mobile

Download the Premera Mobile app to connect with your plan on the go:

  • Manage your claims
  • Track spending toward your deductible
  • Look up your benefits
  • Check out the medicine your doctor just prescribed
  • Look for an in-network pharmacy or doc

Key #6: 24-Hour NurseLine

Your son is sick and it’s 4 a.m. You can’t sleep because of a funny pain in your side. Times like these you’ll be glad you can call the 24-Hour NurseLine. A nurse will help you decide what to do – ER? Urgent care? Treat at home?

Call the NurseLine number on your ID card anytime, anywhere.

Key #7: Virtual care

Virtual care means you receive care from a doctor via phone or online consultation. If virtual care is covered by your plan, ask if your doctor offers same-day and after-hours virtual care. You can also use Teladoc® to be treated by a certified physician anytime anywhere in the United States* by phone or online video. When your plan starts, register at teladoc.com or call 855-332-4522. Then contact Teladoc when you need medical care right away. Teladoc charges one flat rate per consult, regardless of the length of the visit, based on your health plan’s standard copay or deductible and coinsurance.

Log in at premera.com to see if your plan covers virtual care.

* Teladoc®is an independent company that arranges virtual medical care services on behalf of Premera. Teladoc operates subject to state regulation and may not be available in certain states.

Key #8: Alternative care

Ask your doctor if alternative care might work for you. Your health plan covers some medically necessary alternative care, such as chiropractic, acupuncture, and massage therapy. Log in at premera.com to verify what your health plan covers.

Key #9: Stay informed, stay healthy

Explore Healthsource, your hub for the latest news about healthcare, health insurance, and Premera.

Key #10: Customer Service

If you have a question, need help with a claim, or want to find out more about your benefits or network, call Premera Customer Service at the number on your ID card. Our reps answer your questions and walk you through to a solution.
