At Premera, we value our relationships with the provider community and the important role they play in caring for our members. We also believe it’s important to listen when providers raise concerns about changes that could affect their practices, their patients and the communities they serve.
Over the past several weeks, we’ve heard feedback from physical therapy providers and other clinicians about our planned Always Therapy Multiple Procedure Payment Reduction (MPPR) policy. Providers have raised important questions and concerns about the potential impact of the policy.
Based on that feedback, we have decided to pause implementation of the Always Therapy MPPR policy while we take additional time to listen, gather information, and further evaluate the potential impacts.
During this pause, we will continue engaging with providers, reviewing the broader market landscape, and gathering additional information to help inform our decision. This will help us better understand the potential impacts of the policy and consider the perspectives of providers, while also ensuring our members continue to have access to high-quality, affordable care.
We appreciate the providers who have taken the time to share their perspectives with us. Those conversations matter, and they help inform our work.
Once we reach a decision about the Always Therapy MPPR policy, we will provide providers with at least 90 days’ notice before any implementation.
We remain committed to providing our members with access to high-quality, affordable care.
