Whether this is your first baby or you’re adding to your family, an important step in welcoming your newborn is getting them enrolled into your health plan.

The steps to enrolling your baby may be different based on how you purchased your plan. If you have:

  • Coverage through an employer: Contact your group administrator to add your child. Human resources is a good place to start.
  • Bought your plan through Washington Healthplanfinder or HealthCare.gov (for Alaska members): Contact the exchange. They’ll work with you to add your baby to your individual health plan.
  • Bought your plan directly from Premera: Call the customer service number listed on your ID card. Our representatives will help you get your newborn enrolled.

In most cases, you’ll have a special enrollment period after birth to add your baby to your health plan. If you have coverage through an employer, that window to add your baby could be different. Contact your group benefits administrator to add your child.
